Last time I placed an order on JetPens.com, I really wanted this glass pen I found that is dipped in ink. Sadly for me, the color pen I wanted was out of stock…until this week! So the pen and some blue in were ordered, and voila!
So…what the pen actually looks like:

And what I wrote with the blue ink I bought:

I’d heard rumors of a heme/onc patient who was madly in love with Edward Cullen, to the point of having blankets, pillowcases, and even a life-size cardboard cutout of him in her room when she’d come in for chemo. I thought it was a patient who went home Tuesday, but turns out it’s one of my patients who will be for some time yet. I didn’t think it was her though because there’s nothing besides fuzzy purple and green things decorating her room now and the girl who went home already had pictures of Taylor Lautner all over the place.
So I asked her this morning…”Hey, what happened to all your Twilight stuff?”
A big, exaggerated sigh and an eyeroll are what I get, followed by, “Oh, I’m so over Edward.”

In all my excitement about Futurama and Rock Band, I forgot to point out something tiny and wonderfully nerdy. See, your address bar up there, next to where you typed in my blog’s name? Evan made a tiny blue bean for me!
You can even see arms, legs, feet, and a smiley face if you look closely enough!
16px by 16px of cuteness.

Brand spankin’ new episodes of Futurama begin on Comedy Central on June 24th!
There’s a Lady Gaga track pack coming to Rock Band next week, and there’s a bonus track…Eric Cartman’s rendition of Poker Face!
Rock Band 3 comes out this holiday season!
The Samoas ice cream (vanilla and caramel ice cream with bits o’ the delicious Girl Scout cookies) is actually light ice cream and has 120 calories per half cup, only 2/3 the calories in regular ice cream!
I think spring’s here…

Moira does a very funny little uncontrollable bark when she think she hears someone outside our door. I’ve been in the middle of giving her a treat when she has this split second of hesitation…she looks at the treat in my hand, looks over at the door, and then the bark just erupts from her before she grabs her treat and runs towards the hallway to investigate.

After a delicious home-cooked meal, Evan and I ran to the store to get ourselves some dessert, and I found something totally awesome. Edy’s ice cream has a cookies ‘n’ cream variation with the Samoas Girl Scout cookies!!!
Totally worth the calories.

My dad seems to be feeling quite a bit better after his second trip to the cath lab. He said he no longer has that heavy feeling in his chest, but he does still occasionally feel a little short of breath when he’s done working out (but I feel that way too…) He also told me he’s eating more and more veggies now and is working out every day.
I’m so proud of him! I really want to take him out to eat, but in my sleep-deprived state I don’t know where we can go for him to order heart-healthy food… any suggestions?

I got myself this Uni-ball Auto Lead Rotation Mechanical Pencil, not because I needed one but because it would be nice to always have fine lines when writing in pencil, and this mini eraser with 28 (!!!) corners. I haven’t written much in pencil lately and had kind of forgotten how much better my handwriting looks better in it than in pen. Too bad I don’t have more reason to use pencil at work.
Now I’m waiting for this glass pen to come back in stock so I can be all cool, carrying around a pot of ink with it.

I have clinic tomorrow and then on Thursday, I start real work again on Heme/Onc. Back to 6am-5pm days with some 30h calls thrown in… If only this month’s rotation could have lasted longer. If only I could continue being a bum forever and ever…
Sigh… How I’ll miss staying up til 2am watching Mystery Science Theater 3000

Evan and I successfully took 2 naps this weekend with Moira sleeping peacefully (aka not bothering us or moving around constantly) at the foot of the bed.
When we first got her, we decided she’d never enter the bedroom. When she entered the bedroom, we said she’d never get on the bed. When she started playing on the bed, we said she’d never sleep on it. And now…
How is she crossing every single boundary?!?

I have spent a wonderfully lazy Saturday with Evan, sleeping in, watching movies, taking naps, and watching some more movies. I don’t think I’ll know how to get back to real work in a few days. So, until then, I will just enjoy
And congrats to Stephanie, Dave, and Abby! Abby will be an adorable big sis.

Thanks to the call trade, I get to enjoy a 3 day weekend this weekend! After getting some sleep this morning, the day was filled with shopping, dinner, dessert, and The Hangover. Our “shoe-shopping” trip resulted in a jacket purchase, we ate way too much at dinner because of the awesome fresh guacamole, and then got hyper on cupcakes before settling in to watch the movie.
Now the house is a little quieter with all our guests gone and Moira is worn out from greeting everyone and running around. We’ll need to do this again soon…
