So…oops!
I started my blog during intern year with every intention to blog daily, keeping a record (mostly for me to look back upon) of the time spent in residency. I mostly stuck with it, but with my vacation and the very busy month of June, I didn’t blog at all during the last 6 weeks of residency except to say I was back from Mexico.
Soon Jasmine and I will be paving the way as pediatric hospitalists at a new hospital and I’ll be slumming in the Children’s ER for some extra cash. I imagine I’ll have more free time but less to blog about since I won’t be around so many people all the time anymore, so the entries will become less frequent. I want to continue the comics as well but will need to come up with a new name for them.
And we shall see what other life changes are in store for this year…

Evan and I flew back home with our families yesterday afternoon. The trip to Mexico itself was awesome, as expected, and the trip home went well with the exception of the bomb scare at Will Rogers that caused us to wait around an extra hour and a half at DFW (45 minutes of which were in the plane on the runway).
Evan and I were at the resort for a little over a week by ourselves and in that time, we did nothing except lay around by the beach.

Me with the Kindle and a pina colada. Reading, drinking, and working on my tan is how I could be found almost every day. That’s basically all I did for two weeks and after being home for a day, I find I already miss it.
I have a ton more pictures, but most of them will have to wait. Dad took a lot of wonderful ones after he got here but I don’t have them yet, and then I’m saving up the ones the wedding photographer took for the reception here in a couple weeks.

We dropped Moira off at Camp Bow Wow for her 2 week vacation from us today (she was so excited to go join her friends that she just marched right in and ditched us!) and then spent some time with our families before we came back home. Now we’re all packed and ready to get a little bit of sleep before our 6am flight in the morning. This is pretty exciting!!!
Since we’ll be out of the country and will have limited internet access, I’m going to take a break from the blog until I get back
Everyone have fun!

He actually initiated 2 clothes shopping trips this week so he could get what he’s wearing for the wedding and get other stuff to wear on the trip. I should enjoy it while it lasts now since the last time he actually wanted to go shopping was 3 or 4 years ago.
I did get myself some fancy pants new sunglasses and a Lego umbrella out of the trips

I’m presenting for Zitelli club tomorrow and it’ll be my last presentation ever for residency, and it’s the last work thing I have to do before Evan and I fly out Sunday morning! Then 4 clinic days and 18 ER shifts and I’m all done. I can’t believe the numbers have become manageable already!
And less than 2 weeks til the wedding!!!

The bits and pieces of my wedding outfit have all finally come together and I’m getting ready to pack everything for our trip. I can’t believe we’re flying out so soon!

It’s amazing what a decent amount of sleep can do for one’s psyche. I know I’m nowhere near getting caught up on my sleep debt (thanks a lot, med school and residency), but I still feel tons better already. I imagine 2 weeks in Mexico, during which I plan to lay around, soak up some sun, and sleep as much as possible, will also help with the sleep debt business. I can’t wait!

Moira spent the night at Evan’s mom’s on Saturday and things went mostly well. She and Jack get along beautifully and she has a lot of fun over there, but it seems she had a hard time going to sleep without us and whined quite a bit, keeping Evan’s mom awake with her. She was very happy to see us when we came to get her Sunday, and has hardly left our side since we got her home. This is only making it harder to drop her off at Camp Bow Wow. I really wish I could take her along to Mexico too.

Moira’s spending the night at Evan’s mom’s to see if she and Jack get along well so she can dog sit for us while we’re in Mexico. They get along wonderfully when they’re together for a few hours, so hopefully this will go well too. I have a feeling I’m going to have a harder time with this separation than she will…

Poor Michelle. She’s asked for scarves and headbands for the past couple years now and I’ll mostly start crocheting, but then get distracted with other things. (Or other people have their babies and I need to finish the blankets first.) Today though, she and I went yarn shopping (yay!) and I made a little headband/ear-warmer for her complete with a cute button closure and a flower on the side of her head, just above her ear. I think I may start making more of those soon. Once I’m caught up on baby blankets.

Saurabh wanted to come by today to pick up his JetPens order and naturally, he’d kidnapped Jasmine and Ajla to come along as well. What was supposed to be a quick visit turned into a much longer affair, complete with trying to spice up friends’ love lives and other things that probably shouldn’t be mentioned. I think at one point I was laughing so hard I was actually crying. Too bad much of what was said can’t be repeated here.

Michelle came over after work today and we actually both managed to get some studying done! Miracles do happen after all.
Then there was the Lady Gaga concert on HBO… that was fun too.

My elective has given me tons of time to study. I think with the way things are going, I’ll be able to read up on the subjects I’d foolishly scheduled for the weeks I’m on vacation before I leave for Mexico and shouldn’t be behind at all when I get back!
Unfortunately I think all this time off has resulted in Evan not being able to get as much of his work done as he’d like. It’s not as though I’m constantly bothering him or anything…

I’ve called Camp Bow Wow to book Moira’s vacation while we’re on vacation (13 nights!), and meanwhile we’re going to drop her off at Evan’s mom’s this Saturday evening to see if she and Jack get along well enough for her to hang out over there for part of that time and save us some money. I’m really starting to wish we could just take her along with us. I had no idea ‘d gotten so attached to her. I even missed having her cuddled up against my leg while sleeping when she decided to use her own bed a couple nights ago.
