I need my caffeine!

30 January, 2010 (20:02) | home | By: Gina

Evan and I are out of Diet Coke at home, so I’ve been getting a little bit of caffeine every now and then from my Starbucks Caramel Macchiato ice cream (yummy!).  It’s just not the same though.  I haven’t had any headaches, but I do have a persistent urge to sleep all day.  Maybe tomorrow [...]

Phew!

29 January, 2010 (22:01) | home | By: Gina

My car fishtails after I get a car wash if I’m not careful, so I was pretty nervous about how it would handle with the ice out there.  Turns out the streets aren’t even as bad as they were the day after Christmas and I was able to make it home without difficulty in just [...]

So…sleepy…

28 January, 2010 (23:44) | home | By: Gina

My dear, crazy dad called me this morning as I was finally falling asleep after getting home from doing admits all night.  Here’s (roughly) how the conversation went. Dad:  You can’t go to work today. Me: I just got home…I have to go later.  I need to sleep right now though. Dad: No, you can’t. [...]

Stupid weather

27 January, 2010 (23:55) | residency | By: Gina

The weather has been beautiful these past few days, so of course we’re now expecting a horrible ice storm to hit Thursday/Friday.  My bag’s packed with extra clothes in case I get stuck at the hospital and can’t go home. Why is Oklahoma like this?  Blizzards, tornadoes, Florida-like temperatures, and earthquakes all within a month.

I need some free time again

26 January, 2010 (21:27) | entertainment, home | By: Gina

Mass Effect 2 came out today and instead of chillin’ on the couch with Moira curled up next to me as Evan plays, I’m at work.  We only made it through the intro before I had to go back to the hospital.  I can’t wait til I’m on elective next month and can catch up [...]

Moira’s Misadventures

25 January, 2010 (23:46) | Uncategorized | By: Gina

Evan and I bought Moira a new toy (a bacon-flavored nylabone) and she loves it.  Yesterday, when I called home to see how things were going, Evan was surprised to see her staring longingly at the bedroom door.  He opened the door for her and she trotted in, picked up her bone, and scampered back [...]

So…who can you spot?

Totally worth it

22 January, 2010 (20:31) | home | By: Gina

Evan and I went out to dinner last night at Zorba’s and as we were finishing up, he asked if I wanted any dessert.  All Zorba’s has for dessert are baclava and churros, and what I was really in the mood for was something hot with ice cream on top.  So I tell Evan this [...]

Less than 2 weeks left on wards

21 January, 2010 (21:38) | residency | By: Gina

As a student, I hated wards on all my rotations.  The endless rounding, the sore feet, the repetition, the secretarial work, all drove me crazy.  Then, as an intern, I suddenly understood what could be enjoyable about it.  Being in charge of my patients and taking care of them was nice, and seeing them get [...]

Awww!

20 January, 2010 (21:08) | the dog | By: Gina

After a rather long day that is not quite close enough to the end of this week of days on wards, I came home and decided to poke around a bit online.  To my great surprise, the Shiba Inu Puppy Cam is back with a new litter of 5 puppies! I can now go to [...]

Darn you, Gormley!

19 January, 2010 (20:48) | entertainment | By: Gina

His ringtone is a lovely Regina Spektor song and ever since noon conference today, when his phone kept ringing, I’ve had it stuck in my head.  (Actually, it turns out I should be blaming Dr. Naifeh because she later told me she had been calling him to figure something out for one of our patients.) [...]

Moira’s Misadventures

18 January, 2010 (21:27) | the dog | By: Gina

Ever since Evan and I got our new headboard with its matching side rails, Moira has been unable to crawl under the bed and hide like she used to.  (There used to be a nest of toys and stolen tissue paper down there.)    Out of habit though, she still tries to shove her way under [...]
