Nerdy Cakes

30 April, 2010 (21:14) | nerd stuff, wedding | By: Gina

I finally got around to checking out a website Adrienne told me about a long time ago, Cake Wrecks.  Most of the cakes are horrible, but the blogger saves cakes that make you believe in edible art for Sundays.  After looking through the entire collection of Sunday posts, I realized my favorites really call to [...]

Golden weekend coming up!

29 April, 2010 (23:35) | nerd stuff, residency | By: Gina

Another fun call night is well under way, this time with Angela joining Scott, Samantha, and me (and Shaheen on newborn! and Jasmine here to hang out!).  Sam volunteered to pick up dinner again and we figured we might as well keep up with our expensive tastes and add Zio’s to our list of meals [...]

Working internet!

28 April, 2010 (18:50) | entertainment, home | By: Gina

Our modem pooped out on us yesterday and after some not-helpful troubleshooting with Cox, Evan and I went to buy a new modem from Best Buy.  Some more phone time, plugging and unplugging, and restarting of the computers finally resulted in real internet at home again. I was gone for most of the hard work but [...]

Back in the hospital…

27 April, 2010 (23:15) | residency | By: Gina

I’m on nights this week with Scott and Samantha.  Samantha has very kindly reminded us every night that she can drive and that she is willing to pick up dinner for us. Thank goodness for that so we’re not eating all hospital food, all the time.

The dog has taken over my side of the bed!

Residential Blues

Sigh…

24 April, 2010 (22:01) | entertainment | By: Gina

Harrison Ford, as Han Solo.  I have yet to meet anyone who didn’t think he was attractive back then.  Plus he’s super cool and bad-ass. And then…Harrison Ford last Halloween, with his girlfriend.

Pixar!

23 April, 2010 (20:25) | entertainment | By: Gina

I can’t wait til Toy Story 3 comes out.  I mean, I’m so excited about it that I’ll be dragging Evan to see it opening weekend in 3D with me AND I just saw the news that there will be a Monsters Inc. 2!!!

How we keep ourselves busy

22 April, 2010 (21:14) | nerd stuff, residency | By: Gina

While Tim and Austin were out seeing their patients this morning before Grand Rounds, Matt and I were busy cleaning our dry erase board and the erasers with isopropyl alcohol, per his wife’s recommendations.  (His wife is a 2nd grade teacher and is therefore an expert on dry erase boards.)  We also made a bit [...]

No more presentations this year!

21 April, 2010 (20:50) | residency | By: Gina

I presented my EBM case today and I’m all set til next year!  2 selectives presentations, 2 morning reports (I got lucky when Steph couldn’t find the key for the room the projector was locked in one morning), and EBM, and that’s it! I’m celebrating by not doing anything productive today

It’s back!

20 April, 2010 (21:22) | home | By: Gina

I love my car.  The only car that could ever take its place is its younger, (slightly) sexier version currently available from Nissan.  Oh Z… How I’ve missed you.

Moira’s Misadventures

19 April, 2010 (21:55) | the dog | By: Gina

I’m trying to break the dog from barking every time she hears a knock at the door.  I don’t know if my method of knocking on doors inside the house is helping…it seems to just stress her out even more.

Residential Blues

Yay, another Jetpens.com order!!!

17 April, 2010 (21:28) | nerd stuff | By: Gina

For the awesome Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto multi-pen, one of my absolute favorites from Jetpens.com, I decided to treat myself to a bunch of ink colors. Behold!  3 different sets of 4 for varying moods

Samurai Wars?!?

16 April, 2010 (16:33) | nerd stuff | By: Gina

I found this link today and my mind has been blown.  Star Wars as imagined by Akira Kurosawa?  Hell yeah!  (Yes, I’m aware of The Hidden Fortress‘s influence on George Lucas and Star Wars.  Just enjoy this for what it is.  And ignore the poor name choices the dude picked for everyone.) My personal favorite [...]
