Gina Bean!

Dad received the bad news abruptly last week that his grandmother in Vietnam, age 103, had passed away.  He called me sobbing (I couldn’t understand what he was saying at first and was quite scared he was hurt himself), told me, and then called his brothers to break the news to them too.  My grandpa, Dad, and Dad’s brothers took off last Tuesday for Vietnam and will be there til the 21st.

Today he called to see how I was doing.  He sounded well for 5am (his time), asked how everyone’s doing, and asked how our search for a slightly bigger car is going.  I told him Evan and I are gonna wait til the deals are better, usually June or July, and he said he’d do the same after he gets back in the country.  I suggested taking the money from his two cars and buying himself what he really likes, the Acura MDX…and he actually said that sounded like a good idea!

The man has spent his entire adult life spoiling his girls and taking just what he needs for himself.  I can’t believe I finally (hopefully) got him to splurge on himself for once!
