Evan and I promptly began dissecting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 as soon as we got to the car last night on our way home from the theater.  What worked, what didn’t work, my thoughts on the composer’s effects on the mood of the film, etc.  I now have a desire to sit and watch all the movies so far while waiting for Part 2 to come out.

I was disappointed in the movie.  What should have been emotional, the scenes that made me cry or swell with pride when I read and reread the books, were not.  There were quite a few details important to the fear and urgency inherent to the plot that were sacrificed for silly and/or funny details instead.  That’s not to say there weren’t good parts of the movie, but overall I left feeling underwhelmed.  The movie also, unsurprisingly, suffers from feeling incomplete, like a stepping stone to the final movie.  Hopefully that one more successfully captures the spirit of the book.

And I want to go back to Orlando…
