Only 34 more hours at work, to be exact, until I’m free to relax and enjoy! Not getting to work with Gottipati for the full two weeks he’s on service is the only thing about this that makes me sad I’m almost done (forever) with the NICU. He’s been wonderful.

Evan, Jasmine, Rachna, and I met up with Michelle downtown today to have some dinner at the Festival of the Arts and take a look around. Unfortunately, as Jasmine pointed out, each time we try to take a brown person with us to a fair it gets far too windy. Rachna and Jasmine both lost [...]

We’ve been watching Game of Thrones on HBO and Evan keeps telling me how much better the book is, so I downloaded the first in the series of books by George R.R. Martin last night. And reading is basically all I’ve done today. Read, run errands, read, eat dinner, read. It’s been a wonderful day.

Evan and I will be spending my day off tomorrow taking care of a bunch of errands (oil change, post office, grocery shopping, etc) that we’ve put off for way too long. We’re completely out of food at home so I think Evan just had oatmeal for lunch today.

Having an attending who truly cares about residents and our education and well-being makes a big difference. Having an attending who’ll fight with the other attendings in his department for us tells me my last week in the NICU (ever) will be good, and quite possibly even enjoyable, instead of just tolerable.

I’m truly jealous of the dog’s lifestyle. Lay around, sunbathe, nap, play, and eat. Why can’t life be that simple for us too?

The shoes have been picked out! I’m a little shocked I’ve procrastinated so much with all the wedding details and I’m also a little shocked that it doesn’t stress me out (except for the little random outbursts I like to text to poor Michelle). I am quite excited about flying to Mexico in a month [...]

My computer desk at home has become too cluttered with junk mail that needs to go in the shredder, stethoscopes, reply cards (yay!), study books, invitations I haven’t mailed out yet, and flowers to work at effectively and comfortably. This has resulted in my migration to the dining table with my laptop. On one hand, [...]

Waking up early enough to work out, shower, and have breakfast before getting to the NICU (almost) on time every morning means I have to go to bed pretty early if I want a decent amount of sleep. Like, embarrassingly early. Dad has told us a few times how early Grandpa always goes to sleep [...]

Unfortunately Cheri won’t let me get rid of my pager yet. It’s still nice knowing the pager is a completely unnecessary bit of residency now, and realizing that it has been unnecessary since March 4th. It’ll feel so good to get rid of it.

I realized at noon conference today that I won’t need my pager the rest of residency. All I have left are my elective and a month in the ER, and in the NICU they just call the spectralink if they need anything. In fact, I haven’t bothered wearing my pager since February when I was [...]

I caught Moira looking over my arm at my laptop screen this weekend as I was doing a little online shopping. This combined with her desire to smell flowery make me believe she’s a pretty girly girl after all.

Evan and I went to Tokyo tonight for some delicious sushi, and I feel wonderfully full and happy now. There was this one very enthusiastic guy at a table across from us who appeared to be on a date. Everything was “SOOO GOOD,” and “AWESOME” according to him. Mildly annoying, but mostly amusing. It made [...]
