So…oops! I started my blog during intern year with every intention to blog daily, keeping a record (mostly for me to look back upon) of the time spent in residency. I mostly stuck with it, but with my vacation and the very busy month of June, I didn’t blog at all during the last 6 [...]

He actually initiated 2 clothes shopping trips this week so he could get what he’s wearing for the wedding and get other stuff to wear on the trip. I should enjoy it while it lasts now since the last time he actually wanted to go shopping was 3 or 4 years ago. I did get [...]

It’s amazing what a decent amount of sleep can do for one’s psyche. I know I’m nowhere near getting caught up on my sleep debt (thanks a lot, med school and residency), but I still feel tons better already. I imagine 2 weeks in Mexico, during which I plan to lay around, soak up some [...]

Poor Michelle. She’s asked for scarves and headbands for the past couple years now and I’ll mostly start crocheting, but then get distracted with other things. (Or other people have their babies and I need to finish the blankets first.) Today though, she and I went yarn shopping (yay!) and I made a little headband/ear-warmer [...]

Michelle came over after work today and we actually both managed to get some studying done! Miracles do happen after all. Then there was the Lady Gaga concert on HBO… that was fun too.

My elective has given me tons of time to study. I think with the way things are going, I’ll be able to read up on the subjects I’d foolishly scheduled for the weeks I’m on vacation before I leave for Mexico and shouldn’t be behind at all when I get back! Unfortunately I think all [...]

I finished reading A Game of Thrones in about a week and now am well into the 2nd book in the series, A Clash of Kings. I’ve somehow managed to study, work out, AND read every day since this rotation started and it’s been awesome. So…is this what I have to look forward to in [...]

My sisters were both surprisingly free this afternoon, so they both came over after work today for some dinner, shopping, and Futurama. Of course, there was lots of wedding and reception talk as well. I can’t believe we’re heading to Mexico in just 2 weeks!!!

No more NICU ever. EVER! Back to sleeping in and hanging out, then studying and getting some sun before heading south to Mexico for some sun without any studying. Woohoo!!!

We’ve been watching Game of Thrones on HBO and Evan keeps telling me how much better the book is, so I downloaded the first in the series of books by George R.R. Martin last night. And reading is basically all I’ve done today. Read, run errands, read, eat dinner, read. It’s been a wonderful day.

Evan and I will be spending my day off tomorrow taking care of a bunch of errands (oil change, post office, grocery shopping, etc) that we’ve put off for way too long. We’re completely out of food at home so I think Evan just had oatmeal for lunch today.

My computer desk at home has become too cluttered with junk mail that needs to go in the shredder, stethoscopes, reply cards (yay!), study books, invitations I haven’t mailed out yet, and flowers to work at effectively and comfortably. This has resulted in my migration to the dining table with my laptop. On one hand, [...]

Waking up early enough to work out, shower, and have breakfast before getting to the NICU (almost) on time every morning means I have to go to bed pretty early if I want a decent amount of sleep. Like, embarrassingly early. Dad has told us a few times how early Grandpa always goes to sleep [...]

Evan and I went to Tokyo tonight for some delicious sushi, and I feel wonderfully full and happy now. There was this one very enthusiastic guy at a table across from us who appeared to be on a date. Everything was “SOOO GOOD,” and “AWESOME” according to him. Mildly annoying, but mostly amusing. It made [...]

I spent a large portion of Sunday with my sisters and parents digging through old family pictures to find a few baby ones of myself for our end of the year banquet. Mom and Dad had a good laugh at my persistent baldness until the ripe old age of 18 months and at how much [...]
